DPI SYSTEMS STILL IN USE?
AMAZING THINGS THEY WERE

An Email from Dave Kanyuch
Subject: DPI Finally out
Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 13:39:18
One I saw Carl Brown last week at an NCR event in San Francisco. He told me that the DPI T&A system at the NCR Dundee plant was being replaced last week..... They didn't have any problems with it, just no one to support it. Good stuff lasts a long time !!
Email From Donald J Villarrubia December 16, 1998
Today 12-16-1998 Avondale called to have some AIDE changes made. It has been so long, that I did not know that they have a new office. Sam (last name unknown) said they have built a new building next to the rock house (the one you were at).  When they moved to the new bulding, they left the DPI processors in the Rock House. They did not want to mess with them. They own the gear and Maint. is on a HR charge. Will talk later.

Don Villarrubia.. Let the good times roll !!
Following are Emails received from Bill Hills survey of November 22.
Frank Taylor:
  • Westinghouse turned that system off at least 6 years ago. There are some DPI sites in MA, and possibly So.Cal.
Bill Keezer:
  • Not a clue. Considering the nature of government, could Navy Ordinance in Louisville, Crane Weapons Depot in Southwest Indiana, or the black-powder storage place near Madison, IN, still be using their systems?
Tom Alvey:
  • Avondale is in my area. They dropped maintenance in 1997 but I believe are still using the system somewhat as we receive T&M calls.
John Swofford:
  • There is one site left at Caterpillar in Mapleton,Illinois..they have two 3752's. This info from the CE (Mark Koutelis) in Peoria: "The contract lasts until 7/99,although they're talking of extending that for no more than a year.  They have already run tests by changing the date to a few minutes before midnight on Dec 31,1999. Believe it or not the old hunk of junk kept  running, the data they strip off isn't date sensitive so they won't have a problem......got mixed feelings about it going away."
Pat Armstrong:
  • I looked for systems in the NCR database and found the following customers with activity in the past 12 months. I have a feeling that most of this was a database clean up and not actual customers. I say that because I know for a fact that MCDONNELL DOUGLAS has no DPI systems left.

  • Avondale is a S150 and has made another inquiry to do an upgrade. I may let Doug Butler and company do it as I am too busy and tired of Data Collection.
