Subject: Dick Miller

Well, DPI alumni are being hit pretty hard over the past four months. We just had a call from Marie Miller in Dewey Beach, Delaware. Dick Miller died yesterday, Easter.
He'd been in hospice care for about a week. He had a stroke about two years ago, and evidently another recent one caused deterioration in his condition that prompted his entry into the hospice facility.
In addition to his wife Marie, his daughter Missy lives in Dewey Beach as well:

No services are planned. Sorry to be the bearer of ill tidings again. Someone send me some good news!

Thank you, Ed.

It surely saddened me to see the death notice on the internet, however I had hoped that it was not our friend.  The obituary that you sent now confirms that it was George.
Whenever I went out to the west coast to see my daughters, I always connected up with him, and for three or four years we would meet at a shopping mall in Tracy which was midpoint between Newman (which was over the pass into the central valley) and the east bay area where I stayed.

George was very much into photography in the later years and assisted me (a novice) in selecting a camera and offering suggestions on it's use.  I also know that he was very
close to his son (and family), who also lived in the bay area somewhere.
I will copy Pete Coble on this email for notice to the DPI community, many who knew and respected George.

I had not been into the DPI website for quite a while and was also saddened by the notice of the death of Gene Mascoli last December.
I only had a few personal contacts with Gene over the years but I have known no finer individual than him in my life.

Larry Berg (and Jennifer) was just visiting down here with their RV and we had a nice dinner together.  They know live in Marblehead, Mass.

I will call you soon to talk with you.
